Hockey

Hockey is one of the three major sports the girls are involved with at the Cathedral School. We have teams from every year group, from Year 3 to 13, competing against independent and state schools locally and from further afield in weekly and Saturday fixtures. We participate in many tournaments at county level. A large number of our pupils represent Cardiff and Vale County whilst we also have international representatives at both U16 and U18 level.

Full commitment is expected at lunchtime, after-school practices and Saturday fixtures, where focus is placed on the improvement of both skills and game understanding.

The School boasts a number of experienced and qualified hockey coaches fully committed to delivering enjoyable and structured sessions during lessons and after school activities. We train on two local Astroturf’s including the home of Hockey Wales at Sophia Gardens, and Cardiff Met’s state of the art Astroturf at their Cyncoed Campus.

We have an excellent reputation in the local area for the quality of hockey played at the School. The results attained clearly reflect the standards achieved in this sport.
