Getting to know each other
08 September 2017
Just before the start of the new school year, the majority of Year 7 joining us this year attended a "Bonding Weekend". Accompanied by their Housemaster and Housemistresses, including their new Form Tutors, they all went to the Abernant Lake Hotel Activity Centre in Powys and engaged in a whole series of adventurous and physical activities.
Pupils ascended climbing walls, abseiled, flew down a zip wire, completed an orienteering course and engaged in a number of water-based activities ranging from stand-up paddle-boarding, raft-building and even a lake-challenge! The range and number of activities had everyone enthused and fully engaged as they completed each of the tasks and activities in groups that found them mixing with people from other Houses and those they had only briefly met from other primary schools during their earlier taster days. Everyone got along fantastically well and thoroughly enjoyed everything they were doing - especially so during the Saturday night disco when, we teachers, saw so many of the pupils on the dance-floor showing off their "moves"!
Time was taken also to learn about the Head's Award and to relax in each other's company in preparation for the year they have ahead.
