Discovery Day
(Year 7 entry 2026 only)
Thursday 5 June 2025
Forest School is a unique educational experience that fosters confidence, creativity and a love for the natural world. With a hands-on approach, children learn through play and exploration in an outdoor environment.
At Little Explorers Forest School, children develop key skills through fun and interactive outdoor activities run by qualified professionals in a safe and inspiring environment.
Starting with storytelling in our cosy yurt, the sessions weave together literacy, creativity and exploration. Each book sets the stage for themed activities, allowing children to develop their understanding of concepts introduced in the story. Activities are thoughtfully planned to encourage problem-solving, teamwork and imaginative play. From experimenting with textures and materials in the mud kitchen to practising observation skills during scavenger hunts, children develop a range of cognitive and social skills while having fun.
Our sessions are led by experienced and passionate practitioners, Mrs Pusey and Miss Nash. As members of staff at The Cathedral School, they also run our Forest School activities as part of our engaging curriculum for our Early Years and Infant pupils.
With over 15 years of experience as a Level 3 Forest School Leader, Mrs Pusey is passionate about creating opportunities for children to guide their own learning. A hands-on kinaesthetic learner herself, she believes every child is unique and thrives when exploring nature.
An experienced practitioner with a Level 2 Forest School Assistant Award and a Diploma in Leadership for Children's Care, Miss Nash specialises in Early Years education and child-led learning. Her dedication to helping children explore and grow in a natural environment makes her an invaluable member of the team.
