Ensuring that pupils leave the Cathedral School, where they will have been challenged to achieve their true potential, in a structured, supportive and stimulating environment, is key to the Sports department’s ethos.
Most important to us is aiming to equip pupils with a desire to be the best they can be, and an enthusiasm to work hard in pursuit of this goal. We promote commitment, an awareness of adaptive competition and respect for the game, the officials and the efforts of the opponents. This promotes an aspiration to win, alongside a recognition that it will not always happen, and that a last minute winner does not impoverish our efforts.
The traits highlighted in the SPORT acronym are ones we want to highlight and celebrate how pupils and students achieve some of the qualities and characteristics outlined below.

We are fortunate to have a number of pupils who perform at a regional or national level across a variety of sports. Providing support to maximise the potential of these pupils is a rewarding experience and is looked at both on the field along with providing an holistic approach to their athletic development

Fixtures take place via a regular Saturday fixture programme with occasional fixtures taking place during the week. We also enter a number of tournaments around the country in a variety of sports.
A programme of "second games" activities are on offer which run parallel with our team sports in Year 9 and beyond, which includes squash, tennis and yoga.
