The Art Department is housed in the self-contained Art Studios situated in Llandaff village, a short distance from the City Cross.  There are facilities for specialist work in 2D and 3D including textiles, enamelling, printing and individual work spaces. For students wishing to pursue graphic based art, a suite of laptops and Macs with access to the Adobe Creative Suite which includes Photoshop and Illustrator. Various digital camera equipment including DSLR cameras, lighting and tripods are available for students who are interested in photography. Sublimation printing and a colour laser printer provide the opportunity to print work on various surfaces and textures.

Budding Cathedral School artists have their work exhibited annually at venues which have included the Washington Gallery, Norwegian Church and most recently Cardiff Metropolitan University, as well as our own Memorial Hall. This is a fantastic opportunity for the pupils to see their work displayed in prestigious locations and for the general public to see the standard of art at the Cathedral School.

The Design and Technology Department comprises a suite of rooms including a classroom for both digital and paper design work and a fully equipped workshop for the creation and realisation of projects. Each year we are delighted that a number of our A Level and GCSE pieces are shortlisted for the annual Innovations Award Exhibition held in conjunction with the Welsh Government to encourage young people in Wales to be technologically innovative and appreciate the importance of design and technology.
