On Saturday morning, we welcomed members of our community to share stories, artefacts and firsthand experiences of WW2. Year 12 and 13 students interviewed everyone who came, and we were astonished at what we heard. Initially I was unsure what the day would entail, but I, like many others, found it to be an extremely rewarding opportunity. Even when the day reached a close, we all could have stayed and continued to discuss the fascinating information that was shared. It was also great to witness the pride of the storytellers, giving us an insight into life during those challenging times; it seemed unbelievable about what some people endured. It was a very worthwhile use of my time and I know everyone felt the same. The importance of these events is unquestionable in preserving the memories and celebrating the sacrifices that were made.
