The Cathedral School continues to be placed amongst the best independent schools in the UK, with its students achieving 82% of grades at A*-B and securing places at the most competitive universities.
With a third of the cohort achieving exclusively A*/A grades, 55% of all grades were A*/A. The most common grade was A. The overall pass rate was 100%.
Accumulating 7 A* and 1A grades, twins Grace and Henry Alston will progress to Queens’ College, Cambridge and Imperial College London respectively. Head Girl Grace will read Natural Sciences, while Henry will study Mathematics.
On news of her results, Grace said “I am so pleased with my results and overwhelmingly excited to be heading off to university. Thank you so much to everyone at the Cathedral School who has helped me over the last seven years, especially in the sixth form. It has been a fantastic experience.”
Arthur Wotton (Head Boy) and Jon Berry will read Spanish and French at New College and Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, respectively, while Stella Rhode will read Architecture at Trinity Hall, Cambridge.

Mr Stephen Morris, Headmaster said: “We are absolutely delighted that our students have achieved such excellent results. They are testament to the talent and ambition that exists within the young people of South Wales, their hard work and the excellent teaching at the Cathedral School which has helped them to realise their potential.
“These fantastic results, across a wide range of subjects, are a wonderful achievement for a sixth form which despite being in its infancy, is performing competitively with the top schools in the UK.
“Our bespoke sixth form, underpinned by a programme of specialist support, has provided the very best advice, guidance and support for all of our students across the full range of subjects we offer. Nurturing bright and hardworking students within an ambitious environment is what our sixth form is all about. We wish our students every success as they take their next step on their educational journey.”
The Cathedral School Sixth Form offers small class sizes, a strong emphasis on preparation for top universities and a breadth of co-curricular opportunities, especially in music.
Mrs Clare Sherwood joins the School as Head next month. The School will host an Open Morning on Saturday 1st October 2016 for Nursery to Sixth Form, followed by a Sixth Form Options Evening on Thursday 13th October 2016.
