This week, we were extremely excited to host the first in a new series of careers events. Aspire to…a career in Healthcare provided a unique opportunity for Years 10-13 and their parents to meet a wide range of top healthcare professionals and gain some valuable insights, along with an ideal networking opportunity.
We welcomed 17 healthcare professionals from areas ranging from Medicine, Dentistry, Surgery and Radiography to Physiotherapy, Nursing and Midwifery, Pharmacy, Optometry, Prosthetics and Genomic education. Representing just a small number of areas within the Healthcare sector, attendees were excited to learn about the number of professional routes and new roles that are being developed by this vital sector.
We were also thrilled to be joined by Old Llandavians - Olivia, Charlotte, Eddie, Nia and Rahul - who are at different stages in their university training at Cardiff for medicine and dentistry and were able to talk enthusiastically about their experiences. Some of our Year 13s who are holding medicine and veterinary medicine offers were also on hand to explain the medical application process and the grueling selection process.
Our Aspire To… programme aims to develop ideas and provide information on a wide range of vocational areas, including Business and Finance, Law and IT, Engineering, Biomedical, Healthcare and Sports Sciences, Environmental protection, the Creative Arts and Modern Languages.
The next event, Aspire to Business and Finance is provisionally scheduled for Tuesday 21st March and will help to encourage, stimulate and inspire the entrepreneurial side of our students! A very big thank you to all of the parents, Old Llandavians and outstanding professionals from the Health Education in Wales team for helping to make Tuesday evening such a big success!
