In light of the recent reports highlighting the damage that litter is causing to our environment, the Eco and PHME teams decided that a difference was needed and this was to be brought about through a beach litter pick.
A group of pupils from Years 1 to 6 took to the beach at Cold Knap, scouring the area for litter. With gloves, bin bags and litter pickers at hand, the group found themselves collecting a huge variety of litter and waste. Every item collected was recorded and the data gathered was used to present to their peers back at school. The items found ranged from plastic bottles, to fishing lines, to empty wrappers. With the litter pick completed, the group finished with a group photo and were treated to an ice cream.
It was a fantastic afternoon which educated the pupils hugely about the problems we are facing as a community and as a nation regarding litter and waste.
