On Tuesday 20th January, the Cathedral School hosted fifteen Church in Wales Primary Schools for a special music workshop.
The event was arranged in conjunction with the Llandaff Diocesan Education Team and a brilliant example of the Partnership work being developed at CSL. The workshop was held to compose music for the Year 6 Leavers’ Service (to be held in Llandaff Cathedral on 25th June). After some initial musical games and warm-ups, the pupils composed music for the Welcome Song which will commence the service. The second part of the workshop focussed on composing lyrics for the official Leavers’ Song, to be performed at the end of the service. The workshop concluded with a lovely buffet lunch, provided by our wonderful caterering team. In addition to the benefits of music making, it was fantastic to see the pupils from different schools mixing together and clearly enjoying each other’s company.
Each Diocesan school will receive a visit from Mr Hill to rehearse the final versions of the two songs during the coming months. The pupils clearly enjoyed themselves, and we look forward to hosting similar events in the future!
