This week eight sixth form students competed in two teams at the the South Wales heat of the ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales) BASE (Business Accounting Skills and Economics) Schools Competition.
The teams were given a business scenario of a television company with a few dilemmas and they played the role of advisors to the company. They were given a data pack of over 30 pages of information about the company to sift through, identify the issues and come up with solutions. Both teams worked extremely well on this for over two hours and put their ideas in a presentation to a panel of judges. They both gave very good presentations and answered the judges’ questions clearly and effectively.
Congratulations to the Year 13 students who were chosen as the winning team and will go to the National Final in Birmingham towards the end of June. Well done!
