Thank you so much to our Year 13 students: Eamon M, Jenna T, Saiba A and Walter T who contributed to Monday’s Head’s Assembly for Y10-13 about Holocaust Memorial Day - their presentation was deeply moving and informative.
Jenna and Eamon presented their experiences from their trip to Auschwitz Birkenau in February of last year, with the Holocaust Education Trust (HET), and have shared their reflections for this week’s newsletter:
“During assembly, Eamon and I were able to not only share recounts of the trip itself but also the importance of remembering the Holocaust and all of its victims. During our time with the HET, we were able to hear from a holocaust survivor, Eva Clarke, who emphasised the importance of sharing every one of these stories and experiences with as many people as possible. Sharing this year’s theme for the Holocaust Memorial Day, Be the light in the darkness, empowered us to highlight how, as a community we must aid each other in our remembrance of the past to assure our future. We felt fortunate to be a part of such an important assembly and hope we ignited a spark in other pupils to learn more about the Holocaust to truly understand what happened, and to read the stories of many other survivors”.
