Over the Easter holidays a group of Year 10 and 12 pupils visited Córdoba, in southern Spain, for an unforgettable exchange trip.
Each student stayed with a Spanish student for a week, allowing them to taste traditional Spanish food and experience the everyday life of a Spanish family and also to improve their understanding of the Spanish language.
We visited the Cordoba Mosque-Cathedral which has a great cultural significance in the town, as well as some beautiful churches and patios which were scattered with vibrant flowers. We had a delicious tapas evening meal where we tried Cordovan dishes such as flamenquín, patatas bravas and flan for dessert.
On Thursday, we spent a day in Seville, where we toured Seville Cathedral and walked up the Giralda Tower as well as having a peaceful boat ride at Plaza de España. On the weekends, we had free time with our families, where we could go out for lunch or go sightseeing.
We all bonded a lot with the Spanish students and learned lots of new vocabulary that we can now apply in class.
This experience has made me discover a love for speaking Spanish and I would definitely consider taking Spanish A Level! This was an amazing, educational experience for us all and we can’t wait for the Spanish students to visit us here in Cardiff very soon!
