Junior Soloists and Ensembles

The Junior pupils put on a wonderful display of musical talent at our Michaelmas Ensembles and Soloists’ concert. We began with a punchy and upbeat performance of the Peter Gunn Theme from our Junior percussionists, showing wonderful confidence with the catchy melody, driving bass line and solo moments on kit. This was followed by two lovely solo performances on piano and voice from our youngest Junior pupils. The Wind Ensemble gave an assured performance of Haydn’s Surprise Symphony, which was followed by two more confident woodwind solos. Our Junior Flute Ensemble gave a polished performance of Shepherd’s Hey followed by fun pieces on piano, with a hungry T-Rex and a jazzy number on oboe. The Junior Guitar Ensemble took us to Spain with their lovely rendition of Fandanguillo followed by confident soloist performances on the cello and tenoroon. Recorderama gave a fun performance of Cloud Cuckoo, displaying the different timbres of the recorder section beautifully. We were entertained by a lyrical rendition of Singing in the Rain on the violin and a dreamy piano Prelude for our final soloist performances. Our String Ensemble with pupils from Year 3 to 6 gave a striking and confident final performance of Sword Dance to finish the evening. It was a fantastic evening of music from our Junior pupils. A big well done to them! Many thanks to all pupils and staff for your hard work and to all the parents for your support.
