Ably assisted by four young reporters, from Years 1 and 2, Mrs Walsh, Director of Infants visited the Lodge today to look at the developments and report back.
With the building work progressing very well, and on target, despite the impeding weather during the summer holidays, there are two main developments - the refurbishment of the old building and the construction of the new buildings. The new extension is taking shape - the foundations are in place, with walls going up at pace. Inside a new staircase has been constructed to the second floor leading to two fantastic beamed rooms which will form a beautiful library and quiet work area.
The children were extremely excited about the visit and reported back to their classmates that: "First we had to put on hard helmets and safety jackets. The building was very exciting to see, especially inside. We stood in a Year 2 classroom - it was big, and very dusty at the moment.
"There was a shoot from the window which took all the rubble downstairs to the outside and there was a ramp to carry buckets to the top floor. We went up the brand new staircase to the attic and we could see the crane - it was enormous.
"The crane was lifting very big pieces of steel and putting them on the Nursery roof. The building is very nice and the classrooms have lots of room for the children."
