Having been selected as a winner for the Theatr Iolo Young Playwright competition, Faaris A’s (Year 9) script, entitled Two Worlds, One Meal, has now been released as a podcast on the Theatr Iolo podcast channel. Originally meant to be performed at the Sherman Theatre for the general public, but due to the uncertainties surrounding when that could happen as a result of the pandemic, it was decided that the winners would record a radio podcast instead.
The winners also took part in a short Q&A where they talked about their inspiration, along with what it was like to work with a professional team on this project, a quote from which can be read below, and the full version is available to watch here: https://youtu.be/zhrgcScqaB8.
“It was humbling to work with such a talented group of people. The quality of the actors’ performances took my breath away, as I watched them portray my script beautifully. The creative director, Lee Lyford made me feel part of the team from minute one. The whole experience has given me extra motivation to carry on writing strong stories with a moral message. I’ve gained a greater appreciation for the arts industry and its potential to change lives.”
A big well done also goes to Lily R (Year 8) whose competition submission entitled Well, Well, Well has been featured in the Theatr Iolo’s Young Playwrights book.
