Showing our Support

On Friday 25th November, we joined millions of people across the UK to show our support for Children in Need 2024.

Primary pupils went The Extra Mile, arriving at school dressed in their SPOrTacular outfits, and undertaking a Pudsey Run. Nursery and Reception stretched their legs in the Gloucester playground by seeing how many loops of our circuit they could complete in the time given. Years 1 and 2 undertook the same challenge in the Sports Hall, whilst Junior pupils ventured to the Bishop’s Field where they ran as many laps of the perimeter that they felt they could. It was heart-warming to see everyone throwing themselves into this physical challenge with smiles on their faces. The cumulative distance covered was well over three marathons, and £1,100 was raised for this wonderful cause.

The day also marked the culmination of Anti-Bullying Week and Safeguarding Week, two important annual events that reinforce our commitment to fostering a culture of kindness and respect.

Senior pupils participated in meaningful activities throughout the week, including safeguarding-focused PHME sessions which explored this year’s theme of Choose Respect, encouraging thoughtful discussions on the importance of treating others with dignity and compassion. To celebrate individuality and support Odd Socks Day, pupils and staff proudly wore mismatched socks today to symbolise the unique qualities that make everyone special.

Families were encouraged to engage in conversations at home, with resources such as the NSPCC’s guide on recognising and addressing bullying and information about Meic Cymru, a valuable helpline for young people in Wales. The Anti-Bullying Alliance offers resources to help families guide and support children; you can download the Parent and Carer Pack to access useful help and guidance on practical ways to help your child(ren) choose respect: https://tinyurl.com/5a49tmr9

Thank you to everyone who participated and supported these initiatives.
