Some of our Primary pupils also visited the Cartref residents earlier this month, to help them decorate their Christmas trees.
The children arrived to see the residents gathered in one of the home’s lounges, all eagerly anticipating our arrival. Divided up into teams with each assigned a box of decorations and a tree to decorate, the children then happily set about their tasks with huge smiles spread across their faces. Before long the trees were a sight to behold, and the lounge’s lights were dimmed. Staff, residents and pupils then started the countdown. Amidst much clapping and cheering, the lights were finally turned on - Christmas had arrived!
Having been rewarded with mince pies, biscuits and squash, the children were then free to chat to the elderly residents – they were a credit to the School, conversing happily and confidently. It was a pleasure to witness the smiles on the faces of both the young and old alike. It was clear that the visit had been a tremendous success, bringing much joy and Christmas spirit to all involved
