What the Cathedral School offers

The Cathedral School Early Years environment is a place of energy and creativity, where children learn through play, while also being introduced to focused learning activities to set down the foundations of early reading, writing and numeracy.
Each year, we offer 25-30 places to external applicants wishing to join us in Year 7. The process for application involves entrance tests, an informal interview and a reference from the child's current school.

The Cathedral School Sixth Form offers excellent teaching and facilities, combined with outstanding pastoral care and a wide ranging co-curricular programme, giving students the opportunity to reach their full potential, both academically and personally, in a vibrant, fun and supportive environment.
Our pupils achieve highly here, and it is a privilege to see their journeys through school.
Our examination results are consistently outstanding, inspired by excellent teaching and a creative curriculum. This year alone five of our students, all who joined the Cathedral School in their infant years, have just secured places at Oxbridge universities.

The Cathedral School operates a daily home-to-school transport service for pupils in Year 3 and above in partnership with StudentSafe. We currently offer five routes serving Brocastle, Caerphilly, Castleton, Miskin and Penarth and are exploring the possibility of adding further routes, including Bridgend and Porthcawl, subject to demand.
Parents send their children to The Cathedral School in order to give them the life chances that are born of confidence
"A dynamically run school that parents pick for its solid academics and family feel. The students work hard, make friends for life, and clearly adore the place."
