The Year 9 Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Qualifying Expedition offered pupils a real test of resilience, teamwork and independence.
Over three days, pupils hiked with full backpacks, cooked and camped outdoors, and navigated unfamiliar terrain, facing everything from chilly weather to map-reading mishaps. The ‘walking-talking-training day’ along the Rhossili Headland proved to be a wake-up call, as teams quickly realised the importance of focus and preparation. With a refresher on navigation skills, confidence began to grow.
The following days saw a transformation. Despite a tough overnight camp and some challenging routes, pupils remained positive and determined. By the final day, their navigation skills had improved dramatically, with all teams arriving at the Gower Heritage Centre on time and in high spirits. Staff were particularly proud to hear praise from members of the public about pupils' politeness and maturity.
Congratulations to all who took part, and thank you to the dedicated staff team who supported pupils every step of the way.
