CSL Election 2026

CSL Election 2026

With the Senedd election next month, it seemed an exciting opportunity to give the CSL community the chance to engage with the political process.

A number of Year 10 pupils were keen to accept the challenge of representing the different parties and with some support from the AS Politics class as Special Advisors they set to work on their manifestos and promotional materials. Posters appeared throughout the school, manifestos and stickers were handed out to inform and garner support, and party promotional videos were recorded for Year 6 who will also be joining the vote.

Following assemblies delivered by the Year 12 Politics class on the new voting system in the upcoming Senedd elections, all year groups had the opportunity to listen to the parties set out their policies. Hustings assemblies were ably hosted by our new Heads of School – Salma A and Amog MB. The format was challenging with each party only given two minutes to lay out the policies for our school constituency and to give some counter arguments to other parties' policies and claims. The speeches became much livelier as the campaigns drew closer to election day.

Earlier today, pupils from Years 6 to 13 visited one of the polling stations set up around the campus and cast their votes. A live results broadcast will follow at the end of the school day where the parties and school community will find out which party or parties have won the six available seats. We will share the results next week.

Well done to all who have taken part. We hope it has inspired all who have a vote to use it!
