Diversity Day

Today is World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, commonly known as Diversity Day!

Organised by the United Nations, its focus this year is to provide an opportunity to help communities understand the value and cultural diversity and learn how to live together in harmony. 

At The Cathedral School, we have thought hard about how we explore and celebrate diversity over the last few years. One of the highlights was our 40^th anniversary celebration of the first girls arriving as pupils in 2018 when we commissioned a wonderful motet which celebrated the different backgrounds of our pupils as well as everything that unites us in this very special community.

This academic year, Head Boy, Walter T and Head Girl, Saiba A, have established DIRECT, our diversity and inclusion group. Involving pupils from Years 5 to 13, the group has so far explored the hopes for our community and our world and any barriers we need to overcome to get there.

DIRECT also hopes to highlight the many stories that exist within the CSL community now and in the future. Walter, Saiba and Mrs Clare Sherwood have recorded their own ‘stories’ which you can watch on the DIRECT Firefly page: Seniors   |   Primary

As Walter and Saiba leave us for the next step in their educational journey, they hope their stories will inspire others to share theirs – pupils, staff and parents.
