The hard work of 26 of our Year 10 pupils gained them the prestigious Gold Head’s Award this year, and they enjoyed a well-earned trip to London to celebrate their dedication and commitment.
The Head’s Award, designed for pupils in Years 7 to 9, encourages participation in Service, Leadership, Physical, Skills, and Extension activities, preparing them for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award as they move up the School. Completing Gold is a significant achievement and this reward trip was a fantastic way to mark their success.
The adventure began in Covent Garden, where pupils explored the bustling streets before heading to the Vaudeville Theatre to watch Six the Musical. After a scenic Thames Clipper boat ride to Canary Wharf for dinner, they made their way to the ice rink where many pupils revealed a real prowess...for others, it proved to be a test of balance and determination to stay upright! Monday morning saw a visit to the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich where pupils explored the breathtaking Painted Hall and tried Napoleonic-era skittles - the precursor to our modern game of Ten Pin Bowling. The historic buildings are also a favourite location for film crews, and pupils witnessed the filming of a clip for an upcoming ITV Police drama.
The trip was a resounding success with a perfect balance of entertainment and education, leaving pupils with wonderful memories and a greater appreciation for history and the arts.
