Inspirational collaboration marks 40 years of co-education at The Cathedral School

It is often said that collaboration is better than competition.

Nowhere was that more evident than at the Lent Term Orchestral and Choral Concert, which opened with a motet celebrating 40 years of co-education at the Cathedral School, sung by the Chamber Choir and written especially for the School.

The piece was a collaboration between Old Llandavians Rosie Dymond (1978-1982, one of the first girls to join The Cathedral School) and Piers Connor Kennedy (1999-2008, former chorister and composer). Based on the text, “There is neither Jew nor Greek, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female, for all of you are one in Christ Jesus”, the piece celebrated the diversity within our school and the courage of each young person who values the unique qualities of others and yet are true to themselves.

It was tremendous fun to sing and a wonderful start to a truly remarkable concert.

I am enormously grateful to Old Llandavians, Rosie Dymond and Piers Kennedy for their gift to the School.
