Learning from the Experts

During the final Games afternoon of the Michaelmas term, the Year 11-13 students were given the opportunity to spend time on a virtual video meeting with Russell Earnshaw and Phoebe Schecter. Russell is a former England Rugby U18, U20 and 7’s coach, currently working with the CSL Sport Faculty across this academic year. Phoebe is Britain’s first female NFL coach and one of five female coaches across the NFL, formerly coaching the Buffalo Bills. Phoebe’s journey of challenges and triumphs provided plenty of inspiration for the students to reflect on as she spoke about how her strength of character has supported her coaching journey. She also reflected on the power of diversity and the character traits she feels are the most impactful on a high-performance environment. It was a wonderful way to finish the term and my thanks to the 1st team captains for their pertinent and thoughtful questions.
