Primary Eisteddfodau

Primary Eisteddfodau

From Welsh folk songs and action rhymes to poetry recital and the very exciting chairing of the bard, pupils from Nursery to Year 6 enjoyed our numerous Eisteddfodau which took place throughout the school day on Tuesday. This was an opportunity for pupils to support their school house, as well as celebrate the achievements of themselves and their peers.

Pupils in our Early Years performed traditional Welsh songs including Pum Crocodeil, Mr Hapus Ydw I and Lliwiau Enfys, complete with rainbow coloured streamers. Whilst our Key Stage One pupils presented class songs, Adeiladu Ty Bach and Mynd Drot Drot and pupils in Year 2 had the opportunity to showcase their choral presentation, I can hear the dragon.

Congratulations go to all our competition finalists including our Infant bard, Orla L-L, for the performance of her poem, There Lived a Dragon. Mr Hemley faced a very difficult decision arriving at the final result following the confident presentations from our Year 2 pupils. Well done, everyone!

In the Juniors, we loved listening to some fantastic vocal and instrumental music, as well as engaging poetic performances. What was most pleasing to see, was the support that all pupils gave our performers and the way in which everyone’s achievements were celebrated, regardless of the house they were in. When the points were counted and verified, the winning house was Vaughans who narrowly edged Wains for this year’s Eisteddfod title. Huge congratulations to all those in Vaughans, as well as to Year 6 Brigita S who was crowned the 2022 Bardic Shield Winner for her magnificent poetry recital. It was lovely to end proceedings with the house singing and National Anthem.

A special thanks to our very own Mrs Williams and Mr Roberts for judging our poetry and music competition, respectively. Thank you to everyone that entered the class competitions and for the support given from home.
