It has been great to see the Boy Choristers enjoying their first rehearsals since March over the last few days! The boys last sang together on 17th March meaning there was a 247 day gap since they last saw and sang with one another at the Cathedral. In the meantime there have been online rehearsals which, although they’re not the same as singing together in person, have helped keep the team together. It has been especially good to welcome Armaan K, Zach H and Lucas K to their first engagements as new Probationers and we look forward to seeing their progress through the choir. The measures that are in place to ensure a safe return to singing at the Cathedral are extensive and the boys have a lot of things to get used to including sitting spaced out, rehearsing in small groups in the Cathedral itself, maintaining physical distance at all times and a ‘new normal’ for just about everything else! The first sung services at the Cathedral will be on Advent Sunday, 29th November, and the boys are going to be busy preparing all of the music they need to sing at the usual Christmas services once school term is over. Whilst things are still far from their normal routine, it’s been great to see and hear them and we look forward to taking further steps along the road to the full chorister programme for all.
