Nursery and Infant Open Morning
Wednesday 13 May 2026
The last few weeks have been exceptionally strong for Science, with pupils achieving impressive success across a range of prestigious competitions that celebrate both depth of knowledge and intellectual curiosity.
In Chemistry, Biology and Physics, our pupils have performed outstandingly in the Olympiads, demonstrating not only their knowledge of subject content but also their ability to think critically and apply their understanding to complex, unfamiliar problems.
Two of our Year 13 students did exceptionally well.
Rhydian S, who achieved a Gold Award in the Chemistry Olympiad last year, went on to secure Gold again, this time placing in the top five students out of 17,241 nationally - an extraordinary accomplishment reflecting sustained excellence at the highest level.
While Emily H, was one of the top 16 performing candidates in the country in the Biology Olympiad, achieving Gold again this year.
Following their success, Rhydian and Emily were invited to prestigious camps during the Easter holidays for the very top-performing students in the country.
These competitions are designed to challenge even the most able students nationally, and the achievements of our pupils are a clear reflection of both their dedication and the strength of teaching and support within the department.
Alongside this individual success, our teams have also excelled collaboratively in the Top of the Bench competition at Swansea University. This event brings together practical skills, scientific reasoning and teamwork under time pressure. Well done to both teams and to those who achieved individual success.
These results highlight the strength and depth of talent across year groups at CSL, and we are incredibly proud of all students who have represented the School with such distinction. Pupils are encouraged not only to achieve highly in the classroom but also to extend themselves beyond the curriculum, embracing challenge and developing a genuine passion for discovery.
