Whole School Open Morning
Saturday 4 October 2025
Nearly 130 pupils took part in our final musical celebration of the year, demonstrating the considerable achievements of the term and showcasing the very high musical standards attained.
As ever, we were privileged to hold the concert in Llandaff Cathedral. Our pupils did a superb job, delighting the audience with a remarkable level of musical quality throughout. This particular concert was further distinguished in culminating with Mr Nye James’ final performance with Brass Ensemble, retiring after 38 years of outstanding service to CSL as Teacher of Brass. We were thrilled that a number of Old Llandavians were able to join us for the event, all of whom greatly enjoyed playing as part of the ensemble, under Mr James’ baton - they sounded fantastic and were received with rapturous applause. Mr. James also received a much-deserved standing ovation. Mr Aspden gave a tribute to Mr James, further endorsed in Mrs Sherwood’s vote of thanks. It was also wonderful to welcome back Mr Michael Hoeg, former Director of Music at CSL.
