World Famous Choral Inspiration

The Girl Choristers took part in an outstanding choral workshop this week. The session was led by Kim Porter, an alto who sings with the world-famous choir, The Sixteen.  The Choristers worked on singing techniques and posture.  During the workshop, the girls performed ”Ave Maria" composed by a member of the schola cantorum, George Curnow and "Hymn to the Virgin" by Benjamin Britten.

Following the workshop, the Choristers enjoyed a delicious two-course supper in the Refectory and managed to fit in a quick game of netball.  The Choristers then proceeded to the Cathedral where they were guests of The Sixteen at the evening concert performed by the group.  The girls were enthralled by the outstanding performance.

During the interval, the conductor of The Sixteen, Harry Christophers CBE met with the girls to discuss the music of the workshop and to sign autographs.

Kim Porter commented on the beautiful quality and purity of the Girl Choristers' sound and very much looks forward to returning to lead a similar workshop in the future.  This was a wonderful experience for the Girl Choristers.
