1st XI Cricket v Marylebone Cricket Club

A Herculean effort from the ground staff enabled yesterday’s 1st XI match against the MCC to go ahead, welcoming back familiar faces, including OLs, Charles Griffith (OL 2023-2016) and Matthew Smart (OL 1982-1988).

After MCC’s fast start, CSL showed a lot of resilience to restrict the run rate. Particularly pleasing was how the younger members of the CSL side acquitted themselves with Verdant LS taking three wickets. Thank you to our catering team, Chartwells, for such a delicious lunch!

The MCC took the spoils in yesterday’s annual fixture as the CSL chase fell 40 runs short. An excellent 51 from Y12 Elis S and a quick fire 37 from Y13 Kreshay B were the highlights of the chase. With the majority of the team still eligible next year, it was an excellent display by the young squad.
