A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong

A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong
The Theatre Appreciation Society visited the WMC to see A Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, and the evening proved to be a resounding success.

The production delivered exactly what fans of the Mischief Theatre company have come to expect: expertly choreographed chaos, impeccable comic timing, and cleverly subverted Dickensian tropes that had pupils and staff laughing throughout.

What made the trip particularly enjoyable was the infectious energy in the auditorium and the shared experience of witnessing such inventive comedy. Pupils delighted in spotting the deliberate mistakes—collapsing sets, missed cues, and hapless actors breaking character—whilst appreciating the skill required to execute such controlled mayhem. The production's ability to balance slapstick with genuine warmth meant even those unfamiliar with Dickens' original story remained fully engaged. The interval buzz was palpable, with pupils excitedly discussing their favourite moments and anticipating what disasters awaited in Act Two.

This trip successfully combined cultural enrichment with genuine enjoyment, reinforcing the value of live theatre in our curriculum. To join the Theatre Appreciation Society on upcoming trips, keep an eye out for the next letter!
