This week began with wonderful celebrations for St David’s Day with the Infant, Junior and Senior Eisteddfodau, where the camaraderie between the Houses was a joy to see.
The Infants, donned in their traditional Welsh apparel, performed beautifully, with an array of Welsh songs being the highlight of the morning.
The standard of work and performances from the Juniors was extremely high. Beautiful music, wonderful art work, superbly written poems and recitation abounded. There were many highlights, chief of which was the House Singing Competition won by Vaughans. The overall winners this year, in a closely fought competition, were Coombes. Well done to them.
Music, Drama and Poetry were celebrated in the Seniors, with a specially commissioned script entitled “The Amazing Roald Dahl and his Fantastic Flights of Fancy” challenging each of the Houses. Their interpretations, all very different, were extremely engaging and clearly a lot of effort had gone into each of the performances. Charlie P became Bard of the Eisteddfod for his poem, Mountains - Two Faced Con Artists and overall winners this year were Dyfrig House, with Euddgowy in second and Teilo in third.
