On Wednesday, over 700 children from primary schools across the Rhondda-Cynon-Taff valleys made their way to Llandaff Cathedral to sing carols and Christmas songs with the Choral Scholars.
This was the fifth, and probably the best of the Carol Celebrations. The sound was fantastic as hundreds of young voices combined to sing old favourites such as Hark the Herald, as well as music by John Rutter and other modern composers. For the vast majority of the children, this was their first experience of the Cathedral and the awe-inspiring sound of the new organ - and it was certainly an experience they will never forget.
Particular congratulations should go to Hannah R, whose unaccompanied solo in The Holly and the Ivy was particularly beautiful, as was Molly D's rendition of 'O Holy Night'. The day had been organised by Head of Music Services, Rachel Kilby - and we hope this is an event that can continue in the future. SLJ
