Chorister Celebrations

Chorister Celebrations

It has been great to welcome back all our choristers and to see our new Probationers in the choir stalls - Henry B, Michael D and Jordan K join the boys, while Beatrix D, Eira J and Charlotte P have begun their duties with the girls.

The first Sunday services of term were sung jointly by girls and boys, as usual. It was a celebratory start to the year as we welcomed this year’s team of senior choristers – our new Dean’s and Canon’s Scholars. William S and Agnes C continue the line of Dean’s Scholars stretching back to the 1880s, while Henry M and Keziah H join them as Canon’s Scholars.

Evensong on Sunday also marked the making up of ten Probationers. Congratulations to Jishnu B, Catherine C, Elis C, Mabel C, Abbey D, Thomas J, Aman N, Mali N, Toby N and Sebastian R, who were all presented with their surplice and are now full choristers.

The choristers are looking forward to a typically busy year ahead, punctuated by many special events. Most notably, we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Girl Choristers with a weekend of special events in March 2026. The choristers are also looking forward to a five-day trip to London in October, singing at prestigious venues including St Paul’s Cathedral and St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle.

This coming weekend, we will welcome back former choristers from across the generations, who will join together for a special Evensong at 5.30pm on Saturday 13th September. It will be wonderful to reconnect and reminisce on time spent as a chorister and pupil at CSL.

There are currently vacancies to join the cathedral choir. Boys currently in Year 4 and girls in Year 7 are invited to get in touch to find out more about becoming a chorister. Please click here for more information, or contact stephenmoore@llandaffcathedral.org.uk or registrar@cathedral-school.co.uk.

In addition to all the special events this term, the choristers sing services at 5.30pm at the Cathedral on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and at 11.00am and 4.00pm on Sundays. Why not pop down the hill at the end of the day and hear them?
