It was a special occasion to open the term on the Bishop’s Field as we took time to remember the life of Giles Hill, father of last year’s 1st XV co-captain Fin and to former 1st XI Hockey captains Fflur and Jess.
To have the support of many alumni spurred the boys on to put in a performance full of grit and tenacity as they came away with a win against King’s College Taunton. The set piece operated well throughout the game and there was some excellent defending and work at the breakdown. If we were more clinical after the identification of space then we could have scored more than the three tries that we did. Jake W carried well, showing excellent leadership. Owen P and Dylan D were constant threats and got well deserved tries. Tom C, Tom P and Alex A caused difficulties for the opposition in the contact area. Griff B scored the decisive try as we held out for the final ten minutes. The sense of community was special as we reflected on a poignant moment for the School and the Hill family.
