Culinary skills put to the test in House Masterchef

What a great night of culinary excellence we enjoyed this week for House Masterchef.

All contestants were from Years 7-9, but the lack of chronological age did not affect the quality of the dishes presented, which were all outstanding and certainly of restaurant standard!  The menus were full of professionalism and imagination, ranging from Coconut Hake Curry and Eve's Pudding to Catalan Fish Stew with Pommes Dauphinoises and Savoy Cabbage to Christmas Bisque.

It was very hard for our judges to decide between the three exquisite meals.  They gave excellent feedback on the choice of recipe and cooking methods employed.  But in the end someone had to win, and Cameron’s big gamble – using a lot of chilli in the main course – paid off: Eudogwy came first, Teilo second and Dyfrig third.

Many thanks go to our judges, Pablo Melillo and Kirsty Britton, chief cook and manager of Il Porro restaurant in Llandaff village.
