Ten little eggs arrived in Nursery as part of their Down on the Farm topic. The eggs were in an incubator keeping warm in the classroom so the pupils could watch carefully for any changes! The pupils took turns to observe, waiting patiently for the eggs to crack, but nothing happened.
Two days later, to everyone’s great delight, one chick pushed and pecked its way out of the shell. Initially it was extremely wobbly, but it wasn’t long before it was yellow and fluffy and waiting for its friends. It did not have to wait long as a further five chicks hatched later in the afternoon! Over the remainder of the week, the chicks contiunued to hatch in front of the pupils – it was an amazing sight and now we have nine healthy, fluffy chicks.. The pupils have been busy learning all about the lifecycle of a chick and creating some egg-cellent crafts
