From Welsh folk songs and action rhymes to poetry recital and the very exciting chairing of the bard, all our pupils had the opportunity to take part and perform in our Primary Eisteddfodau.
Thank you to everyone that entered the class competitions and for the support given from home. Pupils in our Early Years performed traditional Welsh songs including Gwenenyn Fach, Mr Hapus Ydw I and Lliwiau Enfys. Whilst our Key Stage One pupils presented class songs Mynd ar y Ceffyl and Mi Welais Jac y Do.
Pupils in Year 2 showcased their choral presentation of I can hear the dragon. Congratulations go to all our competition finalists including our Infant bard, Claudia B, for the performance of her poem, The Dragon. Mr Hemley faced a very difficult decision arriving at the final result following the confident presentations from our Year 2 pupils. Well done, everyone!
On Wednesday afternoon the DS was filled with mellifluous music, powerful poetry and sensational support for everyone participating, as our four Houses of Coombes, Guys, Vaughans and Wains ‘did battle’ in our Junior Eisteddfod 2023.
It was truly wonderful to see pupils light-up as they performed in front of their peers, as onlookers were entertained with both vocal and instrumental performances of the highest standard, as well as poetry that made us think, jump and laugh. What was most pleasing was the way in which all competitors were supported before and after their performances, with everyone’s successes, regardless of age group or House, being celebrated by all.
After two hours of competition, the points were totalled and Coombes were crowned the champions, with Hadi A-H from Year 6 being celebrated as our Bardic Shield winner 2023.
