F1 in Schools

The F1® in Schools STEM Challenge is a test of engineering skill, teamwork and business acumen.

Teams of pupils are required to design, build and race miniature Formula 1 cars, as well as create a pit display, secure sponsorships and develop promotional materials to showcase their team. From the initial concept to race day, teams refine their car designs with a focus on aerodynamics and speed, constantly testing and improving their models. Alongside the technical aspects, they develop branding, merchandise and sponsorship pitches - valuable real-world skills that extend beyond the competition. Securing sponsorships is a crucial part of the competition, requiring teams to pitch their ideas and form partnerships to fund their designs. A huge thank you to FJ Dance Company, Geldards LLP, Pill Pharmacy, and Pestle & Mortar for their generous support in helping bring these projects to life.

On race day, the teams put their designs to the test, competing for the fastest time across four runs. They were also interviewed by a panel of judges, discussing the engineering and thought processes behind their designs, and evaluated on their technical knowledge and explanations of complex aspects. With competition fierce and stakes high, every team hoped to take home the top prize. The Challenge truly was a wonderful celebration of the next generation of engineers, designers and entrepreneurs and we look forward to next year's competition.

A huge well done to our two teams: Hyperdrive (Osian B, Max W, Harry W, Jeremiah E, William M) and Shockwave (Adan A, Sneha P, Maya H, Govind A, Felix D, Henry W)
