An excited group of 44 year five pupils left school last Thursday for their much anticipated trip to York. Breaking the journey with a visit to Alton Towers, they arrived in York in time for a late dinner and an early night.
The second day was action packed with visits to The National Railway Museum, where they learned about the science behind trains and to Eden Camp, where they heard about different aspects of World War II and watched an authentic Second World War puppet show. Learning about the rich heritage of chocolate that York is so famous for, the chocolate tasting at The Chocolate Story was a real highlight, followed by ten pin bowling.
The final day was no less action-packed than the first. They thoroughly enjoyed their visit to The Castle Museum, where pupils looked at ‘The Swinging Sixties’ and ‘World War I’ exhibitions in preparation for next year’s history work. The trip was rounded off with a visit to ‘The Jorvik Museum’, where pupils were immersed in Viking history – the sights, sounds and definitely the smells.
