The sports tour to Malaysia brought competition on the courts and pitches, camaraderie and connection off them and an opportunity to explore the culture and warmth of this vibrant country.
We were greeted with fiercely competitive opponents across all four sports of Hockey, Rugby, Football and Netball but those opponents turned to friends (after many post game photographs), along with some very vocal supporters. The conditions provided new challenges, but the players rose to the challenges the busy schedule provided, to give constant performances of grit and determination.
Away from the pitches we were treated to excellent excursions including a tour of the rainforest at the Malaysia Forest Research Institute, time at the impressive Batu caves, a tour of Kuala Lumpur, a visit to the Orang utan island, an exhilarating white-water rafting trip and more adrenaline filled adventures at the Sunway Lagoon Park.
The trip also provided time at the Salvation Army Children’s Home, a charity we had been raising money for before the trip. We enjoyed time spending time with the children, sharing tea with them and playing lots of games. We were able to provide a number of gifts for the children and will look for keeping this connection in place in the coming years.
The pupils and students were superb ambassadors for the School and extremely good company. We returned jet lagged and fatigued but with many memories that will last a lifetime. For more photographs from the trip click here
