The Times and the Daily Telegraph published their league tables for the GCSE successes of independent schools in the UK. Once again the Cathedral School was well placed; in the Times, 75th of 325 co-educational schools in the UK, one of the top independent schools with (currently) no sixth form in the UK, and 166th of 465 in the Daily Telegraph which is ranked by the percentage of pupils gaining A*/A.
Stephen Morris (Headmaster) commented: "Whilst the league tables only tell us about a fraction of a school's achievement for its pupils, I am delighted that the Cathedral School is so highly placed once again. When we remember that most of our pupils were not selected on the basis of their ability [those entering the school as lower Infants are not tested for ability] the pupils' achievements at GCSE are all the more incredible. We are proud of those who gained all A/A* of course, 63% of all entries received A* or A, and the most common grade here is an A grade, but just as proud of those with more modest achievements for whom their grades represent an enormous effort, and in some cases considerable struggle. Every single pupil passed at least 7 GCSEs at A*-C grade; well done to them all."
