Congratulations to twelve Senior pianists who performed superbly last night. ‘Pianists on Parade’ was a delightful celebration of high quality piano playing in the Senior Section, demonstrating vividly how profound and beautiful piano music can be, and how integral it is to the lives of so many Cathedral School pupils.
Music from Grade 4 to Diploma standard touched a range of styles and moods and certainly took full advantage of our magnificent Stuart Concert Grand Piano. The Director of Music’s own highlights, to mention just three, included Tom P’s supremely sensitive and delicate rendition of the Moonlight Sonata, which held the audience spellbound from start to finish. Similarly, Tom B gave a tender, introspective rendition of Yiruma’s ‘Maybe’. Anna-Maria S should also be commended on a well-prepared and engaging performance of Chopin’s Waltz in A-flat, Op.69/1.
