Highlight of the Week

The Lodge is officially opened

It has been a truly memorable week as we officially celebrated the opening of our Infant School at The Lodge. Our special guest, author Clara Vulliamy wowed us all as she retold her own stories, creating amazing illustrations of the characters as she went along. We were delighted to be joined by a host of guests who have all been involved in the planning and development of The Lodge.

The day began with the children telling the story of our move to the Lodge in their own words, coupled with beautiful singing.

The rest of the day was filled with activities centred around literature. Clara led workshops with children; a group of mums shared stories with the children in our reading café - what a success that was; bedtime came early in the Nursery when they all snuggled into their pyjamas and had hot chocolate and bedtime stories; children were busy in classrooms with activities around Clara's books and to complete the picture the smell of baking gingerbread men wafted through the department. The children all received a signed book to go home as a memento of this wonderful day in the school's history.
