The Urban Schools Project has been a wonderful opportunity for The Cathedral School to work with schools in the local community and for our Year 5 pupils to work with different teachers throughout the Primary. The idea was to create a prayer space which represents the big question agreed between the schools.
This year, it was 'How can following God bring freedom and justice?' with a focus on the life of Moses. Representing freedom through water, and justice through fire, the space offered opportunities for reflection, encouraging pupils from all faiths, and none, to take the time to think about people in the community, the wider world, and themselves.
The pupils and staff involved have enjoyed being part of the project and have been encouraged to challenge themselves on their ideas of freedom and justice.
Thank you to Miss Morton who has co-ordinated the project on behalf of our Primary section and St Paul’s Church in Wales School.
Mrs Sherwood even thought the children’s ideas were fit for an A level Philosophy lesson!
