Aspire To...STEM

Aspire To...STEM

Our Aspire To…STEM careers and networking event gave pupils an inspiring insight into the breadth of opportunities available across science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

We were delighted to hear from professionals working across cyber security and AI, engineering and construction, medicine and cardiovascular research, space science, climate change, marine and coastal monitoring, high-performance sport, nuclear energy, materials science and financial technology. Old Llandavians Rupert Poole (OL, 1985–1989) and Tomas Oliver (OL, 2011–2018) also returned to share their journeys, highlighting the wide range of opportunities that can grow from a CSL education.

It was a particular pleasure to welcome pupils from local schools, who joined our own pupils in benefiting from the expertise and insight of an exceptional group of speakers.

Through a series of engaging discussions, pupils learned how STEM subjects translate into real-world careers, the skills employers value most, and how innovation, problem-solving and collaboration sit at the heart of so many professions. Speakers were refreshingly honest about their own career routes and challenges, helping pupils to see that there is no single 'right' path into STEM.
