Information Afternoon Year 7 entry 2027
Tuesday 10 November 1645-1730
Last week, our Design and Technology pupils attended the WJEC Innovation Awards at the All Nations Centre, gaining valuable insight into the creativity, innovation and technical excellence demonstrated in GCSE and A Level coursework projects.
With around 80 projects on display, pupils had the opportunity to explore a wide range of ideas, design solutions and manufacturing techniques. The visit provided practical inspiration for planning, presenting and developing their own Design and Technology coursework projects.
One project that particularly stood out was a weight-lifting device that had been manufactured using two different filament materials within a single 3D print. This showcased the exciting possibilities of multi-material 3D printing, a capability that is now available on our own Bambu H2D printers.
Pupils were impressed by the quality and variety of the work on display and enjoyed exploring the accompanying design portfolios. The experience reinforced the breadth of opportunities within Design and Technology and demonstrated what can be achieved through creative thinking, thoughtful design and skilled manufacturing.
The WJEC Innovation Awards offer an excellent opportunity for students considering Design and Technology at GCSE or A Level to gain inspiration, develop their understanding of the subject and see outstanding examples of coursework in action.
