This week our Creative Curriculum topic, Pharaohs, was brought to life! We travelled down the M4 to the Egypt Centre at Swansea University, where we engaged in a variety of activities that built the children’s knowledge of life in Ancient Egypt and its modern-day study. Some of the stand-out moments were: preparing a life-sized ‘dummy mummy’ for the afterlife; playing the ancient game of Senet (which got very competitive); and learning about the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb by Howard Carter. We even got to hold and examine artefacts that were up to 10,000 years old! It was an amazing way to begin to learn about this fascinating and wide-ranging topic.
