Information Afternoon Year 7 entry 2027
Tuesday 10 November 1645-1730
Small changes can make a big difference to the health and wellbeing of our children and our community.
Recent research led by King's College London and the University of Massachusetts Amherst found that young people who take more steps each day tend to report lower levels of anxiety, improved mood and fewer behavioural difficulties over time. The findings add to growing evidence that regular physical activity and active travel can play an important role in supporting children's wellbeing.
As we encourage healthy journeys to and from school, we would also like to remind families of an important change to the law regarding stationary vehicle engine idling in Wales. From 30th September 2026, penalties for idling offences increased significantly, with schools identified as areas of particular concern due to children's exposure to vehicle emissions. Families are therefore kindly asked to switch off vehicle engines when waiting in the school or village car park.
Whether by walking, cycling or simply switching off engines while waiting, every small action helps. Together, we can create a healthier, cleaner and more sustainable environment for every member of the Cathedral School, Llandaff community.
